Scream 7 is here, and fans have a lot of mixed feelings about it. On February 27, 2026, the seventh Scream movie came out, bringing the iconic horror franchise back to the big screen once again.
Scream 7 follows a new group of friends who begin receiving mysterious messages from someone wearing the Ghostface mask. This time, the story also connects back to original survivor Sidney Prescott, as her daughter becomes part of the unfolding mystery. As strange events happen, secrets are revealed and the characters must figure out who is behind the mask before it’s too late. Many viewers expected Ghostface to be Stu Macher because the movie hints at it, especially when it seems like Stu is FaceTiming Sidney throughout. However, it later turns out that this was actually AI being used by the real Ghostfaces.
In my opinion, everything leading up to the unmasking of the Ghostfaces was really good and kept the movie interesting. The suspense built up well, and it made you want to keep watching to figure out who was behind everything. However, once the Ghostfaces are revealed, it becomes disappointing. Viewers may find themselves wondering who they are and why Stu wasn’t involved, especially since the movie seemed to hint at his involvement earlier. When the Ghostfaces explained their motives, it came across as weak and not as convincing as in past movies, which makes the ending feel less satisfying.
Let’s see what sophomore Melania DeMayo’s opinion is on the movie. Sophomore Melania DeMayo says, “the movie wasn’t as high as my expectations. I really wish that Stu Macher was the killer because I feel like he is still alive. But if there is an eighth movie coming out I hope he is the Ghostface.”
There are a lot of mixed feelings about this movie. There may be a Scream 8 and the series could redeem itself. What are your thoughts on the seventh Scream movie?
