Every school year has its defining trends, and the 2025–26 school year was no exception. Many of this year’s biggest trends came from social media. From fashion, beauty, music, fidgets to collectibles, drinks, and viral internet sensations, new trends appeared almost overnight and spread faster than ever before. Here are some of the trends that helped define the 2025–26 school year:
1. Matcha

Matcha remained one of the most popular drinks of the school year. Whether purchased at Starbucks or a local coffee shop, the green tea based drink became a popular trend although opinions on its taste remain divided. Some people enjoy the particular taste while others compare it to the taste of grass.
2. NeeDoh Stress Balls 
NeeDoh Stress Balls became a popular fidget toy throughout the school year. People used the toy as a quick way to relieve stress or stay focused, especially before a big test.
3. Dubai Chocolate 
A TikTok sensation, the Dubai chocolate Trend spread across the world. The chocolate bars are known for their rich, crunchy pistachio filling surrounded by chocolate.
4. Sonny Angels 
Sonny Angels remained one of the most popular collectibles of the year. The miniature figurines come in a variety of themes including food, animals and holidays. Unboxing videos became a major social media trend.
5. Pickle Ball 
A combination of elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong the sport became a very popular activity. The sport was especially popular at Wayne Hills during gym class.
6. Hacky Sack 
Hacky Sack saw a resurgence in popularity especially during lunch periods. Students gathered in groups to keep the small bean- filled sack up in the air as long as possible.
7. Adidas Sambas
They were one of the most popular shoes of the year. The vintage sneaker made a comeback and became a staple in many teenagers’ everyday outfits.
8. Parke Crewnecks 
Parke Crewnecks became a massive clothing trend throughout the year. Created by Chelsea Parke, the crewnecks frequently sold out within minutes of new releases and quickly became a staple in many students wardrobes.
9. Polka dots 
Polka dots made a comeback during the 2025-26 school year. The classic pattern appeared on everything from dresses and skirts to bags and shoes, making it the pattern of the year.
