Whoop, whoop, it’s summer! You made it. After the long ten-month school year kids are finally off from school and get a break from their busy, stressful lives. That means that classes end, tests end, and athletes get a break from their sport. Some students will take the break as a time to relax and slow down their lives, others will hustle and work to make money, and some may be going on vacation or are committed to a sport.
The most common event that kids take part in is going on vacations with their family. Going on vacation could mean different things for each family. Some vacations consist of going back to their home country or their parents’ home country and visiting family for a long period of time. Other vacations consist of relaxing on the beach and making up for lost time with family members.
Another common event kids do over the summer is working. Now that kids have more time, they can commit to either a part-time job or a full-time job. Making money during the summer is very common for kids to do so they have money for the long break and maybe even some for the school year, once it starts up again.
Lastly, kids partake in attending camps and clinics for their sport. While their season may be over, that does not mean that training and the hard work has ended. Getting in extra reps can improve an athlete’s performance for the following season. Training during the summer is most common for students that play football, cheer, soccer, and volleyball.
Antonia Nastro says, “Over the summer I just want to relax and enjoy my time off from school. My family and I go down the shore and spend our time down the shore.”
Kynsie Pistone says, “Over my summer I am excited to enjoy beach days down the shore and tanning by the pool! I have some volunteer work at Safety town and I am so excited to start the summer and have fun with my friends and make more memories with them!”
Everyone’s summer looks different but the one thing they all have in common is that it is going to be a memorable summer filled with friends and joy!
