As a new school year starts, students begin to face a new change when it comes to internet platforms. After 10 years using Google Classroom, Wayne Hills has decided to make a bold change. Thousands of students and teachers around the school said their last goodbyes to their beloved Google Classroom over this summer as they transitioned into Canvas.
The whole school is upset about this drastic change, and say that Canvas is a challenging platform to use. Freshman Chloe Roseman said, “I don’t like it. It’s really bad, like you can’t find anything and Google Classroom makes everything easier because your teachers can put assignments under topics.”
Freshman Gianna Maurer commented, “I personally think that Canvas is horrible and that we should switch back to Google Classroom. It’s hard to use and it’s hard to access things.”
Yara Abbas responded with, “I think it’s very different, because with Canvas you have to upload a lot of stuff. It’s very confusing. I like Google Classroom better.” Naomi Garcia said, “It’s horrible and I want Google Classroom back.”
However, there were also students who didn’t mind the new change Emilio Roca, a sophomore, simply stated, “Google Classroom’s a lot buggier, so like, I’m kinda getting more used to Canvas.” Lyric Walker, a freshman, didn’t really mind the change. She responded with, “It’s alright, it’s just a bit harder to find everything.” Mrs. Brown, a P.E. teacher, said it was “Challenging. I wish we were able to pile it up over the course of last year.”
After the change was introduced, students had mixed reactions. Overall, many students here at Wayne Hills High School were not very happy with the change. But change isn’t always bad. Eventually, most students and teachers will adapt to the new platform Canvas.
