2026 is fully in motion, but 2025 gives us thrills, fears, and tears in the movie theater, and gets watchers ready for more. The box office was boosted by releasing many memorable films that critics are raving about. These are some of the most-watched and favorable movies in 2025.
Sinners
Sinners, directed by award-winning Ryan Coogler, was one of the top movies of the year. Following twins Smoke and Stake coming home to Mississippi in 1932 to open their own juke joint, along the way, they encounter supernatural vampires in human form and have to fight against racial adversity. With stars Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, and introducing Miles Caton as Sammie, this cast blew all critics away with its compelling visuals, showstopping take on the blues, and its captivating message.
Wicked: For Good
Following the success of the first Wicked Movie, Elphaba and Glinda’s story continues in Wicked: For Good. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu, the most anticipated film of the year stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, whose performances blow the competition away, leaving the audience stunned. While traveling through the wonderful world of Oz, you follow Elphaba and Glinda through challenges with friendship, love, and most importantly, the Wizard. With hit songs for the Broadway show: For Good, As Long as You’re Mine, and No Good Deed, Wicked leaves watchers changed ‘For Good’ after leaving the theaters.
Regretting You
Regretting You, based on Colleen Hoover’s romance novel, took over the theaters this fall. Teenage stars, critically acclaimed McKenna Grace and Mason Thames, give us a Rom-Com that many are waiting for. As an accident changes Clara and her mother’s lives forever, they both have to deal with negative secrets, love, and challenges along the way. Carla and Morgan start to discover new relationships, as Morgan finds love with her sister Jenny’s boyfriend, Johan, and Carla with Miller, a boy she was supposed to avoid. When Regretting You entered the theater, many compared this movie to 10 Things I Hate About You and another Colleen Hoover-inspired movie, It Ends with Us, as a great rom-com that teenagers got instantly hooked on.
Weapons
The mystery horror film, Weapons, left watchers cowering in their seats and left them with questions. In a small town where kids magically disappeared from their houses on the same night and time, class teacher Justine and student Alex are pointed as the culprits of the event. Through interwoven perspectives, we discover the town’s secrets and introduce Aunt Gladys, a parasitic witch who is in charge of this disappearance. This psychological thriller makes viewers think with creepy jump scares, a compelling viewing experience, and an amazing plot with a little comedy. This movie left me stunned as my nails dug deeper and deeper into the seat.
Marty Supreme
Marty Supreme, Marty Supreme, Marty Supreme is all anyone could get enough of scrolling through their social media. Marty Supreme, starring the beloved actor Timothee Chalamet, takes on the world of ping pong. The movie follows Marty Mauser, who tries to pursue his dream of becoming a champion of Ping Pong. Even as this movie just came out on Christmas Day, the critics went wild, and Timothee took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actor. By far, this movie has the best marketing of 2025. Marty Supreme was featured on clothes such as the Marty Supreme jacket, our favorite influencer’s pages, and even physically placed on the MSG New York Knicks Court.
