The varsity girls volleyball team lost in the third round of the states tournament.

The team has been working hard since August 21 and has been practicing almost every day after school. Led by coaches Theresa Moschel, Michelle Lala, and William Eustice, the team has been spending the past few months preparing for the States tournament.

Seniors Precious Aguiar, Megan Kaloukian, Erin Sentowski, Ally Zaro, Sam Quagliana and Taylor Habeeb have all been giving it their all and attempting to make the most of their last volleyball season here at WHHS before going off to college.

The team, with a record of 15-6, made it to the County Finals where they lost to Wayne Valley in the third set. After that, they won two straight sets against Atlantic Tech on Halloween. On November 2, they lost after two sets in the States tournament to Roxbury. The team was disappointed by this loss, but they were satisfied with the hard work that they have put in all throughout the season.

“We’re disappointed,” said varsity player Annarose Bernando, “we gave it our best effort and just got outplayed.”

Junior Varsity player Laiann Hamdan agrees with Bernando: “Although we did lose the State game, the team had a great season and worked very hard. I am very proud of how far we’ve come and I hope for an even better season next year.”
