While Gianna has special family and friends, one of her key influences is her mom. She recalls that her mom bought her an espresso machine which led to a greater interest in coffee which also influenced her to become a barista. This new espresso machine now allows her to enjoy coffee whenever she wants because she can master the craft of making it by herself. This is not the only honorable mention her mom gets. Her mom has a major influence on Gianna because she has taught and continues to teach her “everything about everything” which ultimately helped shape who she is today.
Gianna remembers when her transition into adulthood began because that’s when she got her first job. Gianna mentioned, “I got my first job that impacted me as well as started my adulthood which was a big milestone.” This achievement marked shifts in her independence and responsibilities which demonstrated a new chapter of her life.
An impact that has lasted on Gianna in her volleyball career is winning a tournament with her volleyball team in her first year of doing club!
An accomplishment that left a lasting impact on Gianna was winning a tournament with her volleyball team during her first year of club. She states, “I won a tournament with my volleyball team my first year of club and that really made me like club a lot more.” This win helped boost her confidence and deepened her love for the sport. This helped create her future commitment to volleyball.
While people and volleyball had impacts on Gianna, Gianna had impacts on people like her closest friends. One of Gianna’s best friends, Lexi Catania, shared how Gianna has impacted her life with how much of a caring and thoughtful friend she is. They both bonded through playing volleyball together where Gianna became a friend Lexi knew she could rely on. She mentions, “We bonded together after playing the same sport and spent countless hours together. She became someone I can count on and trust.”
A special memory with Gianna is when they were hanging out with their other best friend, Bella, and they were baking. Lexi shares, “My favorite memory with Gianna is when we were baking cookies with our best friend, Bella, and we didn’t know how long to leave them in the oven for. Gianna then mutters something about a so-called “five-minute rule.” To our utter confusion, we set an alarm for five minutes and waited. When the timer goes off and the cookies are still not done, we confront her and tell her that her rule didn’t work. She then looks at us with confusion and exclaims that she has never heard of a “five-minute rule” and that we were making the entire thing up. To this day we still have no idea where this “five-minute rule” came from.” Moments like these are cherished amongst them.
Gianna has been impacted on and has impacted others which is why she has a caring and genuine friend. Her life has been shaped in many ways that have helped her work towards her future goals. Whether it’s drinking or making coffee, sharing her passion for art, or her relationships with her best friends, Gianna is leaving a lasting impression on people around her.
