Clinton or Trump?

The 2016 Presidential Debate is becoming very heated, candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump especially being in the hot seat recently for their controversies.

Hillary Clinton is under fire from the tabloids for exaggerating the stories that she tells to her audience, claiming that she was rejected from joining the Marines when she enlisted because she was “too old.” This would not be the first time that the details surrounding Clinton’s elaborate stories are exaggerated. In 2008, she claimed that when she arrived in Bosnia for a greeting ceremony, she was instead greeted with sniper fire, when videos showcased a calm, safe scene with no danger.

Also, Hillary Clinton has been involved in what is now infamously known as her email scandal. It became clear in March 2015 that Clinton had been using her own private email for government emails with federal information, and is currently being investigated by the FBI for whether or not her statements violate a “federal false statements statute.”

Donald Trump on the other hand, isn’t doing much better. Trump sparked social outrage when he voiced his opinions on immigration, making the statement that Mexicans are coming to America and “bringing drugs, bringing crime,” continuing to say that “[t]hey’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.” This, along with many other bigoted statements have placed Trump in the constant negative spotlight in the press, and in America.

And although neither of these candidates may be someone’s first choice for president, when given a choice between the two, WHHS students had surprising answers when asked.

“This is such a hard decision. Honestly, they’re both horrible. If I had to choose though, I would go with Trump since both Clinton and Trump would ruin America, but with Trump, we’ll be ruined with money,” says freshman Ryan Mamedov.

But honestly, all we can do now is sit and wait to see what happens in the 2016 election.
