Every year MTV hosts an award ceremony for movies that have come out the past year. They also take this time to introduce upcoming movies that already take interest with the audience. This year, the MTV Movie Awards were hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In fact, they star in an upcoming movie together called Central Intelligence. Every show has highlights that everyone buzzing for days. These are the highlights of the MTV Movie Awards.

Of course, it is a tradition for the hosts to have several outfits that they change into. However, it was unexpected to see the two men dressed in superhero costumes. It definitely pleased many fans of the comic books and of the movie, Batman vs. Superman, that recently released.

The Lonely Island comes back to perform.

The Lonely Island, who made the hit song, “I Just Had Sex”, performed a Tribute to Will Smith who won the Generation Award. They performed a medley of Smith’s biggest hits, such as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song, “Men In Black”, and “Gettin’ Jiggy With It”.

When accepting her award for Comedic Genius, Melissa McCarthy crowd-surfed towards the stage. It was definitely different from the other winners and made it on the highlight list.

Audience lifts lightsabers at the end of the show.

It was a legendary moment when the audience lifted their red and blue lightsabers as fireworks went off at the end of the show. It definitely looked beautiful along with all the colors of the fireworks.

Suicide Squad Clip

It was much awaited for the Suicide Squad trailer. It definitely made everyone jump to their feets when MTV decided to show a sneak peek clip of the movie. Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, and Will Smith, cast members of the movie, were there to introduce the clip.

“I’m already so hyped for this movie that when the clip came up, I was not able to sit in my chair,” said Catherine Jiga, senior.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Trailer release.

Many Harry Potter fans are ecstatic to hear of a new movie release based off a J.K. Rowling book. They were completely satisfied when the full trailer was released at the MTV Movie Awards. Eddie Redmayne, the actor who plays the main character, was there at the awards ceremony to introduce the trailer for the movie that may change his acting career.

Alexander Skarsgard took the stage in a tuxedo and no pants.

Skarsgard, who stars in the upcoming movie Tarzan, was set to introduce the Movie of the Year award, alongside his co-star, Samuel L. Jackson. He originally was going to present the award shirtless but realized that Zac Efron had done so in previous years. Therefore, he found another solution to represent his wild side, no pants (not that anyone is complaining).

Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine’s on-stage kiss

At every MTV Movie Award, there is an award that goes out for Best Kiss. Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine had won it for their on-screen kiss in Pitch Perfect 2. Their kiss may have made millions laugh but nothing can top Rachel McAdam’s and Ryan Gosling’s on-stage kiss.
