It is June, finally! Wayne Hills is definitely excited for summers great treasures: school is out, beaches, s’mores, and camping, which can be pleasant for some people. The fact that there was an abnormally cold and long winter before the Sun enlightened the northeast adds to the excitement for warm weather and tanning. Why was this winter exceedingly cold? As with almost everything in life, there is a science to this response.
The entire world did not magically get colder. It’s quite strange; the United States experienced an exceptionally colder winter than any other country. CNN Weather states that most of the world experienced a warmer winter, but the US, “sticks out like a cold, sore thumb.” That brings an additional part of the question: why did the US specifically experience a cold winter?

ABC News explains that the polar vortex has become weak. When this happens, the cold arctic air of the polar vortex is able to seep further south, when it is supposed to stay in the North Pole. This arctic air seeped specifically into the US causing dangerously cold weather for New Jersey. Accuweather states, “Arctic air is poised to plunge into the central and eastern United States.” This increase Arctic Air in the east can explain the cold winter New Jerseyans were sick of.
Hell does not stop there! New Jersey further had to endure a rainy Memorial Day Weekend. From the Wayne Hills Patriot Press, we are glad we came out in one piece. Don’t worry, New Jersey, the light is near. Warm and sunny days are to come!
