Principal Michael Rewick believes everyone should have a voice and be listened to.

When Rewick was in high school, he felt like he never expressed his feelings to teachers or administrators at his school.  Today, as he closes out the first official marking period of his career as principal at Hills,  Rewick would like to let every student know that there are people here, including him, who will listen.

“Everyone should have a good support system,” he said  “At least one adult should be there to guide a student when in need of help or just to simply let it all out.”

“I want students to leave here knowing after four years someone has listened to them and heard their voice,” Rewick adds.

Rewick acknowledges that being principal is not an easy job and that he is faced with many challenges each day. However, he overcomes these challenges by creating goals for himself.

Chief among these goals is connecting with the faculty and students. His role as principal contrasts considerably with his old position at Metlife,  the holding corporation for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, better known as MetLife, and its affiliates

“At Metlife it was about people’s money; ” he says.  “At Wayne Hills it is about people.” He adamantly believes he can make a positive difference at Hills. All the while, Rewick also strives to ensure parents know what goes on in their kids’ lives at WHHS. He mentioned that he would “like to communicate more with parents and let them have a voice through both emails and round table meetings.”

Part of his improvement plan involves the students in the special education program. Rewick states, “I want to have a school store run by special ed students to help them learn strong stem skills.” He adds that he plans “to move forward with updating the schools look.”
