Wayne Hills Marching Band Takes First Place

The Wayne Hills Patriot Marching Band has had an excellent season thus far, recently placing first in an important competition.

The competition was held on Sunday, October 8th, at Midland Park High School. The competition featured 10 bands. WHHS’s theme this year is “Portrait of the American West.” At the competition, they played American Overture, Hoedown, Home on the Range, and the theme of the Magnificent Seven.

The members of the band were not only proud of their performance on Sunday, but throughout the whole season so far, with junior trumpet player Jason Kobrin saying, “So far, the band has been performing very well this season. Our show is really coming together and we have a lot of upside.”

The Patriots season is not yet over, with an upcoming competition in Verona on Saturday, October 14th. However, what the members of the band are most looking forward to, is the competition that Wayne Hills will be hosting themselves.

Collin Brooks, a junior tenor saxophone player, said, “I am most excited for the home band festival on October 21st where we invite bands to our high school and compete… This season has been one of the most successful yet and we hope to keep pushing harder throughout the season at championships.”

Come out to support the Wayne Hills Marching Band on October 21st on the turf, as they showcase their “Portrait of the American West”!
