The Girls Volleyball team faces cross-town rivals Wayne Valley September 24 in the North Gym, for the second home game of the season. The girls are off to a bright start this season, with an exciting victory over three time county champions Passaic Valley. Although falling short to Fairlawn, the varsity team is determined to take Valley for the first time in years.
The girls have been practicing more than ever this season, determined to change the record of the team and to prove that hard work and a change in attitude goes a long way. The team began off season training especially early this year, starting in June and working throughout the summer in camps, private trainings, and in-school practices. This extra- effort is showing itself, especially according to Head Coach Eustice, who believes that “all the hard work invested in the off season is paying off.” The players have been continuing to train harder during the season as well, focusing on conditioning and strength.
The team has focused more on team unity this year, committed to bringing a family sense to it. Captain Alex Hoff hopes to keep this attitude up throughout the season. “We have spent a lot of time together in the offseason, hoping to instill a family bond within the team. Morgan and I have spent much time considering the duty of a captain, and what we can do to ensure that the team is always at its best, win or lose. With a lot of important games coming up, we hope the girls continue to work hard and push through to come out on top.” The girls volleyball team plans to continue their chase of victory, with versatility and vigor.
