Boys Tennis Team Wins Passaic Count Tournament

The WHHS Varsity boys tennis team won its’ twelfth consecutive Passaic County Tournament this week. On Thursday, May 5, the team had finalists in four out of five flights and took three out of five of them. The team also ended up taking the third singles, first doubles and second doubles crowns.

Ryan Simon of DePaul took the first singles crown by downing Wayne Hills’ Jake Goldberg in a tightly contested match with scores of 6-1, 5-7 and 6-4. WHHS finished with 16 points, three ahead of second-place team Wayne Valley.

“The team is doing good. The tennis team gets along very well and we all work together. Everyone should join tennis.” said Freshman Mark Noschese.

The boys Varsity team’s current record is 11-2 with only two matches left in the season. They are playing WHHS rivals Wayne Valley on May 18 at 4:00 p.m. and Lakeland on May 19 also at 4:00 p.m. The team is also competing in a tournament on May 19 against Montville at Montville’s own field.
