The Patriot Marching Band officially wrapped up its season after months of unforgettable performances, hard work, and shared memories. From the first day of band camp to the final competition, the band showed dedication, spirit, and pride at every step. This season proved once again that the marching band is a vital and inspiring part of the school community. They performed their show, A Hero’s Journey, at Friday night football games and local competitions, showing off their music and teamwork. The band was led by directors Ms. Pascale and Mr. Sippel, with percussion instructor Mr. Nelson and guard instructor Coach B, who guided the students with patience, encouragement, and strong leadership. They spent countless hours helping the musicians learn new music, practice marching drills, and understand how to perform with confidence. The band had 54 members, including brass, woodwinds, percussion, and color guard. Everyone worked together to make the music and shows look great.
The season began in the summer with band camp, where students learned the basics of the year’s show. They practiced long hours in the heat, learning formation after formation and memorizing their music. Sophomore Sydney Woodard says, “My favorite part of band camp was making new friendships and becoming closer with the current ones I have!” Although the days were tough, students said the experience brought them closer together. Many new friendships were formed, especially among the rookies who were joining the band for the first time. By the time the first football game arrived, the group was ready to take the field with confidence. Sophomore Daniel Kovtun says, ” A big part of our success was through preparation before the season even started. We wanted to show the audience what we could really do.”
There were three soloists featured in the show, including our main character, portraying the Hero, junior trumpet player Cameron Perez-Alcalde. Cameron reflected on his performance, saying, “Serving as the soloist was an unforgettable and deeply affecting experience that allowed me to grow as both a musician and a person.”The responsibility of carrying key musical moments motivated him to practice harder, refine his technique, and learn how to perform with confidence under pressure.
This season, the band was proudly led by drum majors Fernanda Badillo and Skyler Maxwell, who played an important role in keeping the group focused, motivated, and working together. Fernanda and Skyler helped run rehearsals and also guided the band through every performance with confidence and enthusiasm. Their leadership kept the band organized during long practices and high-pressure moments, and many students said they looked up to them as role models. Thanks to their dedication and strong leadership, the band was able to perform at its very best throughout the entire season.
During the season, the band won awards for its music and visual performances. Judges and community members praised their steady rhythm, confident marching, and exciting color guard routines. As the season came to a close, students reflected on how much they had grown. Many said they improved not only as musicians but also in confidence, leadership, and responsibility. Sophomore Molly Klaetsch says, “The band did very well competitively, and our high scores/ranks throughout the season served as a great motivation for individual and overall improvement.”
As the Patriot Marching Band looks back on a season filled with hard work, friendship, and unforgettable performances, they can feel proud of everything they achieved together. The memories they made on the field, in the stands, and during long practices will stay with them for years to come. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion for music shaped a season that truly stood out and left a lasting impact on everyone who watched them perform. Though the season may be over, the memories made will always be with us!
