Many Democrats are calling for Robert Menendez, Senator from the New Jersey Congress, due to the conspiracy of him committing bribery.

Menendez has been a Democratic senator since 2006, and during his time being Senator,  he has been accused of taking payments in the form of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, and a luxury car for using his political power to pay the government of Egypt. 

Cory Booker, a Democratic United States Senator from New Jersey. Booker has worked with Menendez for nearly a decade. He opens his thoughts about Bob Menendez on his website Corey Booker. “Senator Menendez has made these sacrifices in the past to serve. And in this case he must do so again. I believe stepping down is best for those Senator Menendez has spent his life serving.” 

This is a big issue with the Democrats but not the Republicans. No Republican Congressman nor Senators have called Menendez to step down. United States Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas expressed his opinion Tuesday and wants Menendez to stay in office. 

Wayne Hills High School students care about this sort of matter because Bob Menendez is the Senator of New Jersey which includes all of the students from Wayne Hills. “I believe Bob Menendez should resign from Senator because he’s been in office for almost 17 years so I think its time for someone else to take that position,” said Claudia Gail a Junior from Wayne Hills. 

Many Democrats from New Jersey are not happy about this occurring. If Menendez doesn’t resign soon everyone will have to wait till the next election which is in 2024.
