The Batman Movie Review (NO SPOILERS)

The new Batman movie is easily the best movie out right now in theatres and will still be an incredible movie even in the future. Theatres are filling up quickly full of fans who have been waiting for this movie. The action and anticipation keep you on the edge of your seat thinking, “What’s going to happen next?”

The highly anticipated The Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves hit theatres on March 4th. This is planned to be the beginning of a new Batman trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the actor for Batman.

This movie was fantastic and it will surely be an amazing start to a new trilogy of Batman. Pattinson’s acting skills make Batman a very enjoyable character. He shows the true difference in character and emotion of the vigilante Batman and the billionaire Bruce Wayne. Pattison is in a large portion of the scenes in the almost three-hour movie, so watchers can see how his character develops throughout the movie.

Pattison’s Bruce Wayne is a reclusive and not very social person, especially for a well-known billionaire. It seems that his butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), handles a lot of the Wayne Enterprise business operations. Characters in the movie are stunned when they see Wayne out in public or at events. Wayne tries to hide his “normal” self and goes out as Batman most of the time. Batman is outside, stopping criminals and investigating a lot more than Bruce Wayne is. The Bat-signal alone is enough to strike fear into the hearts of criminals who are out after dark.

The representation of the main villain, The Riddler (Paul Dano) is shown perfectly in The Batman. His goal is to expose all the corrupt politicians, police, and media inside of Gotham. Viewers can see how everything The Riddler does is connected and how precisely he plans out everything he does. The hero and villain dynamic between Batman and Riddler is incredible and it is shown clearly. Batman is able to easily solve all the Riddler’s riddles and Riddler knows that. He directs all of his actions towards Bruce, and what his family has done to the city in the past.

The visual aspects of the movie also make it beyond belief. The outfit of The Riddler is a reflection of the dark and maniacal person that he is. This movie’s Batman suit is also very appealing and matches Robert Pattinson’s Batman very well. The camerawork is incredible and the shots of the city of Gotham look fantastic. Viewers loved the new design of the Batmobile. The action sequences in the movie were greatly acted as well. This movie is so much better if watched in a surround-sound theatre, rather than just watching from bed at home.

What would a superhero movie be without side characters? The Batman has a bunch of astoundingly portrayed side characters. One of them was Commissioner James Gordon, who was played by Jeffrey Wright. This Commissioner Gordon was very different from other Batman movies. In a lot of his scenes, Gordon was next to Batman, helping him investigate. Viewers also get to see the aggressive side of Gordon, when he interrogates criminals or tries to get a room under control. Another side character who was loved by viewers was Batman’s love interest, Catwoman, who was played by Zoë Kravitz. Most of the time, she was involved with Batman’s investigations and wanted to help him in any way she could, while pursuing her own interests as well.

Alex Cruz, a Hills freshman who saw the movie said, “The Batman is one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen. The action and pacing are flawless. The story is engaging and the characters are understood. Robert Pattinson did a phenomenal job as Batman and will undoubtedly go down in history. The Batman is a great watch even for people with little prior knowledge of the character and I heavily recommend this movie.”
