Recently revealed on the school site, the district has identified a defect in certain chromebook chargers.  This error occurrence in the chargers is enough of a problem to call in for replacements.

The problem occurring is that the charging cord on certain chromebook replacement chargers may expose the copper wire after wear and tear due to a manufacturing defect. The exposure of the copper wire can lead to multiple possible accidents that can harm. This issue is also so far identified on newer chromebooks with a USB-C plug.

Due to this hazardous defect, the Wayne Hills website posted an explanation for this defect and how to go by the situation. You can tell if the charger is defective by seeing if your chromebook charger has a white tip at the base of the plug. (The defect explained can be shown on the featured image above).

To ensure safety from the damaged wire, you can do the following: If your wire contains the white tip, please return the plug tò the main office (not the brick) and a replacement should be provided for you.

“I didn’t notice the problem until someone notified me about it and I identified the white tip when I was about to plug in the charger,” says Junior, Julio Pinzon, who had recently seen the defect on his own chromebook charger.

The potential hazardous problem hasn’t really occurred in the school, but it was good that the staff of Wayne Hills had noticed this as well as informed others students and staff.
