Freshman Opinions on Coming Back to School This Year

By David Valdes, Staff Writer

Freshman at Wayne Hills High School were very eager but also worried somewhat about the new 2021-22 school year. Some students were in school part-time while others have not been to school since the beginning of the pandemic. Even if they were in school during that time, the changes would still be difficult to adjust to. But if you put your mind to it, you will find that it is not that hard.

There are many new things that students will be experiencing this year. It is a whole new school building, new teachers, new classes, and even a new schedule to follow.  “I feel bitter-sweet about the school year because I like being able to go into school. Last year felt restricted while I was learning from home. I do think this year is going to go well, but I’m just worried that we are going to have to go virtual again,” says freshman Prisma Vaughn.

There are also some students that are very hopeful for the upcoming year, such as freshman Nick Wagner. “I am happy that we can go back to school full time and see our friends again. Hopefully, we can go without masks eventually and get back to normal school.” Nick says when asked how he feels about this school year.

Lots of freshmen are confused and worried but some are very excited for this school year. Needless to say, this year is looking to be a good school one and most students are looking forward to it.
