Leo Club Helps Out Camp Marcella

By Michelle Lampariello

The WHHS Leo Club had a successful trip to Camp Marcella on November 22nd. Camp Marcella is a summer camp for blind and visually impaired children, and the Leos helped to keep the campground maintained while the children are away. Both WHHS and WVHS Leos worked together to rake leaves around the camp and sweep the cabin that is maintained by the Wayne Lions. Despite the cold weather, the Leos were able to accomplish a lot of raking, as well as transporting the leaf piles into the woods behind the camp. As a gesture of gratitude for all of their hard work, Camp Marcella employees made lunch for all of the Leos.

“The Leo Club is dedicated to the maintenance of the Camp Marcella grounds and cabin number three,” explained Susan Price, adviser of the Leo Club and teacher at WHHS. The Leos should be proud of all they accomplished at Camp Marcella, and many “take great pride in our efforts to provide a summer haven for blind and handicapped youth” continued Price.

The Leo Club is looking forward to their next trip on Friday, December 11th to the Wayne Handicapped center. As always, the Leos plan to continue to live up to their motto- “We do good work!” as Price would say.
