A New Twist on This Years’ WHHS 2017 Talent Show

One of the main events always remembered when looking back at your high school career is the Talent Show. For years now, Wayne Hills has been performing their unique talents on stage. This year, the show took place on April 7th, from 7 to 9 pm.   To make this year’s talent show different, the rules were slightly changed.

This year there was no winner! The annual Talent Show has changed from honoring participants with first, second, and third place prizes into an event where prizes will not be awarded. Instead, the talent of the students will be showcased without a reward. It has become an event to honor and recognize all types of talent, considering that talent can range from singing to magic tricks!

“It’s hard to give out a prize, I mean, how do you really judge talents, you know? It ranges from rock bands to Indian dance routines. They’re two opposite ends of the spectrum and one can’t really be better than the other the other because the talents themselves are so different.” said Mrs. Noll, one of the coordinators. Danielle McKnight, a senior, says “it’s super liberating to showcase everything you’ve worked at. Singing has been such an instrumental part of my life and I can’t imagine who I would be without and I love to share my love for it with others.”

This year’s  talents included an Indian dance, singing, piano playing, band playing, and a poetry slam. The talent show was filmed and placed onto youtube under the title “Wayne Hills Talent Show”, produced by WHTV.
