Boys Soccer Team Sets Sights on Counties

The Boys Varsity and JV Soccer teams have already proven themselves praise-worthy throughout the past few years.

Starting off on the right foot, the Varsity team kicked off the season with a 2-2-1 record, chalking up wins against Ridgewood and Wayne Valley.

Meanwhile, the JV team is looking to maintain its winning streak of two years.

“The JV Team has a very high chance of maintaining the JV winning streak. So far, we haven’t lost in two years,” said JV Coach Loukas Dimitoulis. Echoing the JV coach, the Varsity coach Nelson Graham speaks fondly of his team, saying, “The team this year is a very good playing team. The team is definitely stronger defensively this year than they were last year.”

“I’m very confident that we will make counties this year. There’s lots of talent on this year’s team, and a secure defense,” commented Jack Fieggen, a senior captain. As counties loom closer and closer, the hardworking varsity team is optimistic about their chances.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team has won county, league, and even state championships more than once. Their motivation to work hard and win as many championships as possible this year is sky high, and the team is well positioned to achieve great things this year.

“The captains this year will lead us to bigger and better things, I truly believe that. The leadership of our main captain, Pat Holton, has helped out this season because he teaches a lot of the younger athletes and sets a good example on and off the field,” testifies Amarjot Singh, a senior player.

The foreshadowing of the team’s future successes doesn’t end just there. Player Aslan Kat, the only freshman on the varsity team, offers a ray of hope to Coach Graham and the rest of varsity.

“It’s hard to catch up physically,” admits Kat. “But we keep each other’s spirits up whether we win or lose, and the boys don’t treat me any differently because of my age.”

Keep the ball rolling, boys.
