The WHHS Golf Team has improved to a record of 13-0 with a win over Lakeland on Wednesday.

The team has started the season in an incredibly successful fashion.  They beat Don Bosco, who is considered one of the best teams in the state, in the first match of the season.  Through the month of April, they have yet to lose a match.

The golf team has been lead by great starts to the season by Robert McHugh, who shot a 30, the lowest score in our school’s history, and who also has a scoring average of 38.1.  Cassandra Lee has started well with a scoring average of 39.1, and James Bradley with an average of 41.8.

Coach Mark DuBois is very pleased with how the team has started and how many underclassmen have stepped up in varsity matches.

“The season has gotten off to a great start and it is always a pleasure to spend time with these kids,” said DuBois.

Although they are off to a great start, ranking in the top five in North Jersey, the team has a tough schedule ahead.  Next week, they play Ridgewood, a top ten team in North Jersey, Wayne Valley, their cross-town rival, Old Tappan, a top five team in the state, and finally Bergen Catholic, the best team in the entire state.

“I am looking forward to our team to challenge Bergen Catholic because you can only improve by playing better teams,” added DuBois.

The team is also looking forward to a busy month of May in which they will attempt to win their third straight Big North Championship and Passaic County Championship.  They will also try to qualify for the State Championships for the first time in our school’s history.
