By Anna Badami and Dan Morales

Kim Jong-nam, half-brother of North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un, died on February 13, 2017, while on his way to the hospital. His death occurred twenty minutes after having a poisonous substance called VX (nerve agent) smeared across his face.

Kim Jong-nam was just 45 years old when he was pronounced dead. His father, Kim Jong-il, decided to make Kim Jong-un, the present dictator of North Korea, the future heir of his place in power, this led to Kim Jong-nam to lose faith over his family and illegally leave his country via a fake passport. Since then Kim Jong-nam had been seen all over the world in countries like in China, Japan, and South Korea.

In present time he was on his way to board an airplane on Kuala Lumpur International Airport that was headed to the Chinese territory of Macau. As he was walking, two woman now known as suspect Siti Aisyah, 25, of Indonesia, along with Doan Thi Huong, 28, of Vietnam approached him from behind and applied the deadly nerve agent VX on his face. Kim Jong-nam then faintly walked to the airports customers assistance seeking medical help; he was taken to the premises clinic and then got moved to an ambulance. He died on the route to the hospital.

Although at first his death was seen as out of the blue, it is now being suspected that Kim Jong-un had an involvement with the death of his half-brother. North Korean spies where the original accusers and now more and more evidence is being racked against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Although North Korean officials had suggested that Kim Jong-nam’s death was caused by a meer heart attack, an autopsy confirmed the presence of chemicals on Kim Jong-nam’s face. This shows how far this North Korean leader will go to remain in power.

When asked if he thought that the killing of Kim Jong-un’s own half-brother would inspire people to take a stand against him, WHHS teacher, Thomas Mohan said, “No, I think if anything this will fuel the instilled fear the people have of him;the man is nuts; if he’d have his own half-brother killed then nothing would stop him from doing that to a civilian.” Although Americans like to tease and poke at the idea of Kim Jong-un as being an over the top, villain-wanna-be leader, a man who is willing to kill his own half-brother will stop at nothing, especially when power is involved.
