The WHHS Boys Bowling team is off to a fast start in the 2016-17 season.

The Patriots opened the season against cross-town rivals Wayne Valley. This match was highly anticipated. Not only is it the first of the season, but it came against Wayne Valley. Wins against Wayne Valley, in any sport, are used for bragging rights as well as a victory on the schedule. The Patriots came into this match after a good season last year and they kept it rolling. The Patriots came away with a 7-0 victory. WHHS took this momentum into their next game against West Milford. West Milford is a tough team to beat and they came in at 1-0 as well, beating Teaneck 7-0. The Patriots battled it out for a 1-0 win. The boys will look to continue their fast start and have a great season. Led by Coach Basilicato, WHHS will look to end the season with a winning title.

The Girls Bowling team is off to a rough start with their 0-7 loss against Wayne Valley. Captain Allison Duffy leads the team with a high score of 154 while Erin Hirz averages a score of 125. Other varsity members include Kristen Gilmore who averages an 111. JV bowling introduced a few new bowlers such as Juniors Samantha Torres and Gianna Spatola, and Sophomores Julia Pellegrino and Alyson Hogan. Each player has brought great amounts of skill, determination, and resilience to the team.

“I love seeing how I can improve after each match. Being with such a great group of people makes the sport so much fun,” says Samantha Torres, a new member of the girls bowling team.
Hopefully, as the season progresses, the players can improve their scores which would lead them to the State Championship.
