The Annual Halloween Contest Comes to a Close

The science department won the annual Halloween costume competition as characters from HBO’s Game of Thrones.  Students and faculty participated in dressing up for Halloween in a new way. The different departments devised their own theme and competed against each other. Other departments dressed as zombies, math nerds, athletes, and elves. The English department came in second, then the math department followed by the history department. The guidance department placed 5th.

Students also joined in on the festivities by dressing up in full costumes. Frank Fabiano, a senior, dresses as a Christmas tree every year.

“I love Christmas and I love to make people laugh,” says Fabiano.

Everyone inputs copious amounts of effort into their costumes. Students wake up earlier than normal to apply their makeup and additional accessories.

“I woke up an hour earlier than usual,” said Donna Del Moro, english teacher.  “That zombie look took me hours to perfect although I felt like it wasn’t much of a stretch given the amount of sleep I got the night before.”

“It took about four or five weeks to come together,” says Jonnelly Mcgrath, a biology teacher at WHHS. She dressed as Melisandre from Game of Thrones.
