Andrew Miller has been arguably the best reliever in the MLB this season, shutting down the opposition whenever his team calls on him.

The end of the 2016 baseball season is almost at its end. This means that the World Series will be coming up. The Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians will be playing in the World Series. So far the series is tied 1-1. We know that one curse will be broken as the Cubs last won a World Series in 1908 or in other words 108 years ago! That is the longest active streak without winning a championship in the 4 major North American sports. On the other hand, the Cleveland Indians have the second longest drought in baseball as their last title came in 1948 or 68 years ago.

Cleveland fans should be ecstatic as the Cleveland Cavaliers just won the NBA championship and now they have the possibility to see their baseball team win the World Series. There is hope for the Cubs as they were first in all of baseball in wins as they won 103 games and the Indians won 94. Both teams have two of the best managers in the game as the Cubs have Joe Maddon who won manager of the year last year and the Indians have Terry Francona who won manager of the year in 2013. The Cubs have arguably the best pitching staff in the game as they have a combined 3.15 ERA which leads the whole entire league. Don’t underestimate the Indians though, as they had a combined 3.84 ERA which was good for seventh in the league. Corey Kluber of the Indians tossed six innings of shutout ball with nine strikeouts for the tribe in their 6-0 Game 1 win. Jake Arrieta of the Cubs followed that up in Game 2 by throwing 5.2 innings of no-hit ball with six strikeouts and the Cubs won the game 5-1. The most surprising story of this postseason is Kyle Schwarber who only had four plate appearances for the entire season because he tore his ACL and came back to play in the World Series. He is 3 for 7 with 2 RBI this postseason. He has not been medically cleared to play in the outfield yet, so they will use him as a pinch-hitter when the Cubs play at Wrigley Field because of the National League rules, where there is no use of the designated hitter.
Dylan Scher, a freshman, said, “I feel like the Cubs have the best team and pitching staff in the league. Cubs fans have endured enough waiting for their team to win a World Series. I think it’s their time to win and they deserve to win.”
The winner of the ALCS MVP for the Indians was Francisco Lindor who is tearing up the World Series right now as he is hitting .429 and has two walks. On the other hand, the Cubs have MVP front-runner Kris Bryant and the NLCS MVP Javier Baez. Both of them had fantastic postseasons. One curse will be broken while another will still stand. No matter what, these teams have exceeded expectations and will do anything to bring back a World Series ring to their city and fans.
