How are WHHS Students Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend?

By Eddie Brim

With Memorial Day weekend just a week away,  WHHS students are starting to plan what they are going to do or would like to do whether it is just staying home and playing video games, hanging out with friends, or doing something a little different like going away somewhere.

Memorial Day is one of the best times of the year because the temperature is starting to warm up and the flowers are in bloom making for a good time to travel somewhere new.

The Patriot Press conducted a poll asking students of WHHS what they would be doing over memorial day weekend. The leading vote of the poll was simply relaxing at home (41 percent of voters) and the close second place was spending time with friends (37 percent), which is a great way to spend a three day weekend. Following was going to the beach with just 17 percent and in last with just five percent of voters was traveling somewhere exotic.

There are however other ways to spend the long weekend such as going to see family in other states or going into the city. “For Memorial Day weekend my family and I are going to our home in Cape May for a couple days,” said junior, Austin Farraye.

There is also a parade that takes place on Monday for Memorial Day which a good amount of people attend and participate in. “I’m going to hang out with friends and family during the weekend and on Monday march in the parade. After the parade my family and I are going to have a barbecue with a few other relatives and family friends,” said Joe Peischl (junior). This Memorial Day break should be good and hopefully it turns out to be a nice weekend.
