Olivia Bruscino Wins Second Place at Special Olympics

Student and athlete, Olivia Bruscino, won second place in her division at the Special Olympics Passaic County on Sunday, February 7th. The competition was held at T-Bowl II in Wayne and athletes all over Passaic County attended this event. Bruscino returned home with a silver medal and will be advancing to the Northern Regional competition in March.

“I felt great. I had so much fun, and I was so happy to make my family proud,” said Bruscino. Bruscino is excited about the upcoming competition and calls bowling her favorite sport. Bruscino also mentions that she expected the win, as did her family and friends.

The Special Olympics are an event held in towns all over the country and focuses on uniting people through the power of sport. Their mission is to give others “opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. ‘  It is an honor to have a Special Olympics medalist among our student body.
