The WHHS Pit Stop will now accept credit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital forms of payment, marking a significant change from its traditional cash-only system.
The WHHS Pit Stop is essentially a school store. They sell food, drinks, and school merchandise to students and staff after school from 2:20 to 3:15.
Abibe Aliu, a 9th grader, spoke about how she visited the Pit Stop often during the freshman volleyball season, saying the change is a huge improvement. “I used to go almost every day when I had volleyball, but I haven’t gone lately because I don’t stay after school anymore,” she said. Even though she doesn’t carry cash often, Abibe says it’s not hard to bring some when she needs to. However, she finds the new payment options very helpful; but, like many students, she is quite concerned about the 3.5% fee added to all new forms of payment. Despite her concerns, she thinks she’ll visit the Pit Stop more often because of this new change.

Kaja Lencyk, a 9th grader and a basketball and soccer player, has only been to the Pit Stop a handful of times. Even then, she is excited about the new payment methods that will make things quicker and easier for all students and staff at WHHS. She also really didn’t like the 3.5% fee, saying it was “really bad,” but like Abibe, she is more interested in going to the Pit Stop now that she doesn’t have to solely rely on cash.
The new changes at the WHHS Pit Stop show a mix of reactions. Many students like how convenient the new payment options will be, but many are not excited about the extra fees. However, overall, the Pit Stop may become more popular for snacks, drinks, and school merchandise.
