National Signing Day

By Chelsea Fortemps

The time has come that all athletes have been patiently awaiting… national signing day! The day where all athletes proudly sign the NLI forms that commit them to playing their sport at their college for the upcoming four years. On  Wednesday morning, February 3rd, many bright eyes and big smiles were all across the room as each athlete sat to take their picture with the gold little pen in their hand sitting proudly in front of the Wayne Hills “W” in The Commons. A few of the athletes were Joey Kenny signing to the Division I University of Rhode Island for football, Leyshawn Askew signing to the Division I University of Massachusetts for football, Meg Griffin signing to the Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University for soccer, and Chelsea Fortemps signing to the Division II Georgian Court University for lacrosse. Kristen Russo signing to Stockton University for lacrosse, Callen Vander May and Lynnea Kolpon both signing to The College of New Jersey for soccer, and Elise Vander May signing to Muhlenberg College for lacrosse. All athletes came together for a group photo as they stood with their heads held high and big smiles across all their faces in front of the “W.”  “It’s an amazing feeling to be able to move on my athletic career to the collegiate level, just as it is for everyone else. I’m thankful to have played at Wayne Hills with all these great athletes for the past fours years,” commented Senior Kristen Russo.
