The Wayne Hills boys tennis season has come to a close after a very successful season.

The team finished with a 17-2 regular season record with their two losses being hard fought. The team won impressive matches against Ridgewood, Dwight-Englewood, and Don Bosco.

Nine of the regular season matches will full team wins with 5-0 victories in which the opposing team had trouble keeping up with the skill and power of the Patriots.

The team also won the Passaic County tournament for the 18th straight year which is an impressive feat that the team was able to achieve. The team earned a total of 17 points for the team which allowed for a nice margin of victory.

When asked about the team’s success this season, senior Luke Kornhaber said, “It was the highlight of my four years on the Wayne Hills Tennis Team.”

The season came to a close in the sectional tournament when they lost to Northern Highlands in the second round by a score of 4-1. The first and second singles as well as both double pairings lost their matches. Third singles player, Aron Martin, won his match in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Even though the team did not reach their overall goal of winning the sectional tournament, Coach Green said, “It’s been one of the best seasons in school history for the Boys Tennis program in which they won a county title and league title. I’m proud of the team and the way every player makes an effort to improve after every season and every match.”

However, the season is not over for a few of the players. First singles player Sahil Chatiwala will be taking on Logan Rauschenberger of West Morris Central High School in the first round of the singles tournament on Saturday, June 10th. First singles players Luke Kornhaber and Ishan Sinha will be facing two doubles players from Princeton as well on Saturday.
