The boys soccer team is seeing many successes this 2022-2023 school year! With three wins in a row, and two upcoming games this week, they are having a very successful season.

On September 28, the team won against Passaic Valley. Prior to that they won against Don Bosco Prep as well as West Milford. In the big Hills vs Valley game, the team cut it super close. With an only one point game loss, the boys felt it was a good game. “This season has been a roller coaster of emotions, but we really are improving with each game” said Senior Luca Gioino.

The team’s most recent game, against Passaic Valley, was the third game to top off their three in a row winning streak. The score was 3-1. In the first period Wayne Hills scored 2 points and Passaic Valley scored 1. In the second period Hills scored another point and Passaic scored none. Another win by Wayne Hills!

The team has had many victories throughout the season but has also faced a few losses, against Fair Lawn and Wayne Valley.

Senior Luca Gioino said, “It started off rocky, but now we are heating up!” and the boys have their “heads in the game.” The senior is confident that the boys are gonna do great in their upcoming games.

Freshman Nolan Kahrar, said “Being on the freshman soccer team a fun experience with some hardships. It is a bi commitment and is easily becoming one of the best experiences of my life. Getting called up to JV was a big achievement of mine and playing with them was great, hopefully I am able to do it again soon.”

Nolan is experiencing his first few weeks of high school with exciting times. He was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be noticed by coaches and even play up on the junior varsity team as a freshman. He is excited to start his soccer career here at Wayne Hills.

This Friday night, the team has a game in Paterson, against Kennedy. After that they have six more games to truly leave everything on the field and end the season on a high note. Senior Gioino said “I’m ready to end my soccer experience here at Wayne Hills with good experiences, good game play, and a forever family.”
