Zac Efron’s, the 34-year-old actor, face dramatically changed in 2021, causing fans to speculate whether it was a botched plastic surgery or an injury.

Efron told Men’s Health in October 2022, that he shattered his jaw while running with his socks in his house. Efron said, he slipped, hit the corner of a fountain, passed out, and woke up to his “chin bone … hanging off” his face according to Page Six’s article. He claims while on break in Australia the masseter muscle just grew. Throughout Zac’s time after the incident, he has also claimed to have taken time off from physical therapy which he believes added to the effects of his facial structure.

Although Zac shared his “truth” about the situation, fans still believe his story seems untrue.

Many also add they believe Efron’s new face resembles The Weeknd’s prosthetic face from his music video “Save Your Tears” according to StyleCaster.

Maddie Allegri a senior said, “ I don’t think that breaking your jaw makes your cheekbones higher.”

Jodie Kim, also  a senior said, “I don’t think this was a life or death situation, I think it’s true that he may have been injured, but I think he got plastic surgery to compensate.”

Besides the rumors Zac Efron continues to act in movies, not letting the buzz affect him. In his new film “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, he acts opposite Russell Crowe and Bill Murray premieres September 30 on Apple TV+.
