After 941 days, star guard for the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, made his return.

For the past two years, Thompson has been recovering from his torn ACL and Achilles injuries. After lots of rehab and training, he made his big return Sunday, January 10 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He showed his excitement through Social Media posts announcing his return.

Although he wasn’t the only one excited to come back. Steph Curry, star shooter and teammate of Thompson on the Warriors, even changed his profile picture on Twitter to a picture of Klay. Other individuals from different NBA teams also joined in on commenting and posting on their socials as well.

Each member of the Warriors even wore different Thompson jerseys during the pregame, and the Bay Arena crowd definitely added to this hype by participating in loud cheers and a standing ovation.

As Thompson said in a tweet, “I will never forget the reception that Warriors fans gave us, especially myself. Gosh,

it was fun and it was worth every single day of being away and in that squat rack or on that shuttle board and all the conditioning days. It was worth every single moment. … I am not going to say equivalent to winning a championship. But man, it was pretty freaking close.”

Senior Julie Jenkins said “I love seeing everyone support Thompson. They are happy for his return to the NBA and it is truly heart-warming. I could only imagine how happy he felt”

This team did not only end in success for The Warriors with a 96-82 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, but Thompson scored 17 points in 20 minutes. He even got up 18 shots in his 20 minutes of play! Aside from this, Thompson definitely proved his talent with his poster dunk over Cavs center, Jarret Allen.

Senior Jared Mintz said, “This performance was definitely not surprising for Thompson. He had always been a good, hard-working player before his injuries.”
