Matthew Giordano lost the Board of Education. The election was on November 2.

Though endorsed by The Wayne Education Association in September 2021, he lost by about 830 votes to Iveta Wentink. Giordano, who would have been a returning member of the board, told TapintoWayne that “While I am a teacher, I am also a parent and a taxpayer, who is only looking out for what is best for our students, the township, and the townspeople in general”.

Giordano’s biggest concerns this term were school environments during the pandemic, returning back to “normalcy”, and the new low-cost housing that would inevitably attract more students to schools. He emphasized the importance of communication and planning ahead.

This loss was amongst many other candidates, all rallying for a position on the Board. These names include Cindy Simon, Chung Wallace, Stacy Sher, Evie Wentink, Harry Prassakos, Eileen Albanese, and Mike Fattal.

Giordano, who has lived in Wayne since 1998, has two children who have attended schools in Wayne.

“While I am a teacher, I am also a parent and a taxpayer, who is only looking out for what is best for our students, the township, and the townspeople in general,” he told TapintoWayne.
