Wayne Hills Girls Tennis has done it again, winning the county championship for the 17th year in a row.

Tying for first place with Passaic County Technical Insitute, Wayne Hills had a lot of tough competition this year with many grueling and long matches. Held at Pompton Lakes, the final day of the tournament on Friday included 5 teams: Wayne Hills, Wayne Valley, Pompton Lakes, PCTI, and Hawthorne.

Comprised of Angela Reyzelman (first singles), Dina Faqih (second singles), Lauren Reiser (third singles), Adriana Osella and Katy Ortega (first doubles), and Juliana Lee and Gabrielle Goldman (second doubles), the WHHS Varsity Girls Tennis Team has been the team to beat for a number of years. Lead by their coaches Bruce Keogh and Todd Green, the varisty team has had an extremely successful season, tying for first in their League Division and advancing to the quarter finals of the state competition.

Although they fought every for every point and played a great match, first singles player Angela Reyzelman and first doubles team Adriana Osella and Katy Ortega both placed second in the finals, giving it their all until the very last point. The second doubles team of Gabrielle Goldman and Juliana Lee were able to pull out a win against Pompton Lakes, giving the team the point needed to keep their winning streak alive.

The experience of winning the tournament was best summed up by Gabrielle Goldman, who said “It was so exciting to be in the finals for a second year, and I knew i had to play my best to pull out a win for my team. The other team was really skilled, and Juliana and I truly had to rise to the occasion. I am so happy we were able to continue our streak and help contribute to our victory.”
