Both of the Wayne Hills Lacrosse programs have the opportunity to capture the 2019 Passaic County crown.

The 15-0 Lady Patriots are led by Lexi Siegel, Kaitlyn Davies, and Sam Graf as the team’s three leading goal scorers. As well as those three, they have a lot of underclassmen depth with only two seniors on the roster.

Coach Daniella Wagenti’s club defeated crosstown rival Wayne Valley on May First in the semi-finals which has propelled them to the finals on Saturday, May Fourth, at 4:00.

When asked how confident the team is going into the final, Junior Liv Monaco explained, “We’re pretty confident that since we beat Valley we will continue our momentum and win on Saturday in the finals.”

As well as the girls’ program, the boys’ lacrosse program has had an excellent year thus far.

Coach Mark Jacobson’s team is led by Patrick Orapello and Craig Wilke on offense, and sophomore standout goalie Dan Daly.

The 11-1 team punched their ticket to the county final when they beat DePaul Catholic 9-2. They will play two hours before the girls’ team on Saturday at 2:00. This is familiar territory for the Patriots as they look to win their third straight county championship.

Dan Daly was also asked about the team’s confidence level going into the county ‘ship. He said, “We have a good team, so I’m pretty confident that we’ll win the county tournament for the third straight year because of our focus in practice all week.”
