The Apple AirPods 2 are here, and new features and wireless charging were announced by Apple on March 20th.

AirPods have been extremely popular due to their simplicity and wireless capabilities. So what’s new? Well, Apple has introduced a newly designed H1 headphone chip. This allows faster connection speeds, more talk time, 30 percent low gaming latency, as well as hands-free “Hey Siri.” The AirPods now receive more than 24 hours of listening time, which is convenient for users who use them often.

The feature that sets the G1 and G2 apart is the new wireless charging case. This allows you to place your headphones on a charging pad instead of plugging it into the wall. Apple added a wireless case to push for their developing wireless pad. The pad will allow Apple users to charge their phone, headphones, and apple watch at the same time.

For people who want to upgrade or buy, you can purchase the item now. The first generation cost $160. If you already have the first generation, you can pay $80 for just the wireless charging case. If you don’t have AirPods the price is $200, with the wireless charging case and the headphones.

“I enjoy the new upgrades, it seems much easier to handle. I’m looking forward to purchasing them” said junior David Smeriglio.

The AirPods 2 are really just a minor improvement to the original AirPods, so really they are AirPods 1.5. If you already have the AirPods you shouldn’t buy the new ones, unless you want the wireless charging case. If you don’t have them you should buy them. If you were expecting a major upgraded and black colored AirPods, that probably won’t happen until Apple’s fall event.
