The Wayne Hills Band held its annual band council elections on May 30th and May 31st for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

Candidates presented speeches during fifth period, running for President, Vice President, Secretary, Recruiting Officer, Publicity Officer, Librarians, and/or Equipment Manager.

Each candidate’s speech included why they believed they would be fit for the position they were running for and what they would do if elected. Many expressed how special the band program was to them and how they hoped to improve the program as a whole in the upcoming school year.

After presenting speeches and collecting votes, Christina Hart was elected Band President, Colin Brooks Vice President, Riddhi Jadhav Secretary, Cheyenne Ajebe Recruiting Officer, and Paul Garafano Publicity Officer.

Four librarians, Jihyun Paik, Sakshi Lende, Lorelei Thompson, and Megan Kick, and five equipment managers,  Logan Espardinez, Justin Vilchez, Josie Vanputtenvink, Emma Marosits, and Ricky Wallert, were elected.

Paul Garafano comments after the election that as Publicity officer, “I’m confident and excited and we’re going to do some pretty cool things.”

Vice President Collin Brooks remarked, “I’m honored to be elected band Vice President this year and I’m very eager for the marching band season to officially start”.
