A Successful Grand Opening for The Patriot Zone

Wayne Hills’ first-ever school store, “The Patriot Zone,” a cooperative effort of both Jennifer Glenn’s special education class and Jennifer Piro’s Marketing II and Entrepreneurship classes, opened its doors recently.

“I’m so excited for the opportunity to open a school store for my special needs kids to practice real-life skills with money, jobs, and greeting customers,” said Glenn.

The grand opening of The Patriot Zone on May 4 was an immense success and included a special visit from the Mayor of Wayne, Chris Vergano.

After a speech from Principal Michael Rewick, Mayor Vergano, Piro, Vice Principal Jennifer Varano, and Glenn cut the ribbon to signify the opening of the store. The day of the grand opening, the store contained cotton candy machine and popcorn machines, in addition to school supplies and school merch.

Marketing II took charge of the advertising for the store while Special Ed and Entrepreneurship filled the store with their products to sell.

“Marketing Two is proud to have been a part of The Patriot Zone grand opening. We worked really hard coming up with the ideas to advertise and couldn’t be happier with the turnout!” Piro states.

The Patriot Zone is open during periods six, seven, and eight every weekday except Thursday.

“This has been such a great experience for Mrs. Piro’s Entrepreneurship and Marketing II classes. Being able to help create something like this has shown me and the class how real-world marketing and finance works and what to expect,” said Riley Garcia, senior.

“Need supplies?” asks Junior Patrick Arias, “Come to the school store!”
