National Honor Society Induction

National Honors Society, or NHS, is a national organization that selects and recognizes high school students who meet their standards since 1921. Every year at WHHS, juniors and seniors are inducted into the NHS. The criteria for students to qualify for membership is a four tier system of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  Ethan Gershgorin, a junior at WHHS who was inducted, explains his excitement and pride. “Being accepted into NHS is such an amazing honor.  It feels great to be acknowledged for all of my hard work.”

The students who were chosen best represents what the society stands for. The students who were accepted into the society were given envelopes on the 15th of October acknowledging their achievements and formally inviting them to the induction ceremony that took place on Thursday, October 22 from 7 to 9 pm in the auditorium. At the induction, a candle ceremony was performed to represent the four tiers and the students recited a pledge promising to abide by the rules of NHS.
