The Wayne Hills Girls Volleyball team is off to a great start in their season with a record of 4-3.
Varsity is led by captains Victoria Galan and Nina Buffa. Varsity won their first tournament of the season in Jersey City at Ferris High School. The girls played teams from Passaic County, and put up a fight, winning them first place and bringing home a plaque.
Junior Chloe Hanna sets up her starting outside of sophomore Natalia Rodriguez, starting middle is junior Isabella Elzer, and starting right side is senior Leah Rosado. Serving specialist senior Lexi Catania pushes points for us with her strong serve. Coach Crespo puts in time every day practicing with the girls and incorporating new drills to make the team stronger. Not only is Coach Crespo teaching the girls how to be better players, but is now training Coach Courtney for the upcoming 2026 season to be Varsity’s Head Coach.
Coach Crespo had a few words to say about his varsity team this season. Crespo says, “our varsity team is off to a great start and, for transitioning into mid-season, we are incorporating different strategies to win. All of our girls have been working hard everyday and now we are beginning to prepare for the county tournament in hopes we do well.”
“With this being my first season in this program, I am very excited to be a part of the team. The girls are so amazing to be around and have been putting in so much hard work which we can see is paying off. I am excited to see what the rest of the season brings and thankful to be part of it,” says Courtney. With this being Courtney’s first year as a coach, she has adjusted well and is a perfect match for the girls.
