WHHS recently hosted their annual “Evening With The Arts” event on March 7th from 7:00 pm to 8:45 pm.

Organized by TRI-M Music Honor Society, the event consisted of various musical performances from groups across Wayne including the North Jersey Youth Honors Band, All Wayne String Orchestra, and Wayne Hills Jazz Bands.

Each fifteen-minute performance took place in different rooms around the school and was designed to allow visitors to experience a wide array of musical talent throughout the night.

“It’s a really good experience for people learning different styles of music,” says junior Cheyenne Ajebe, who performed as both a member of the Wayne Hills Jazz Band and Low Brass Ensemble. “There’s so many different performances you can explore.”

Aside from music, the night was also dedicated to a wide arrangement of other artistic talents.

The Art Honors Society displayed various collections of student-created art in the Wayne Hills Library, while the photography classes showcased a variety of photography arranged throughout the Commons area.

Halfway through their season, the Wayne Hills Millennial Winterguard performed their 2018-2019 show, “Honor of the Dragon,” in the North Gym.

“We’re only halfway through the season and we’ve already improved significantly,” said sophomore member Melissa Hering. “As individuals and as a group, we can continue to better hone our skills and end on a strong note.”

Despite being canceled last year due to weather complications, the 2019 Wayne “Evening With The Arts” wowed audiences with a multitude of artistic talent from all around the town, and many are already looking forward to the event next year.

A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of beautiful which has been implanted in the human soul.
