Wayne Hills Week Of Respect Features “Chalk Walk”

Every year, students at Wayne Hills come together to celebrate the Week of Respect, where they learn the importance of being kind to one another.

This year, the Week of Respect fell between October 2nd and October 8th. Each day throughout the week had a certain theme.

On Monday, students were asked to wear blue to kick off the week. On Tuesday, they showed pride through wearing something that represented their ethnicity and on Wednesday, students wore tie dye as a symbol of peace. Students wore crazy hair and/or clothes to teach everyone to respect one another despite differences, and on Friday they wore Wayne Hills clothes to represent unity.

For the Week of Respect, the Student Ambassador Program did their annual “Chalk Walk.” The Chalk Walk was designed so that as students walk into school in the morning, they see inspirational and uplifting messages on the sidewalk. Students drew anything from peace signs and smiley faces to inspiring quotes.

Senior officer of the Student Ambassador program, Olivia LiPuma said, “I believe that seeing the inspirational quotes and positive drawings in the morning as well as the afternoon make for a more energetic and welcoming environment.”
