A Star Emerging

Recently voted the top field hockey scorer in the Northeast Field Hockey league, Amanda LaGuardia,a junior at Wayne Hills  seems unstoppable.

“I was so excited when I found out that I was nominated as one of the best scorers in the North East,” Laguardia said. “Especially because the other nominees are so talented.”

It is obvious that Amanda is a valuable player on the team as she is the teams main goal scorer. She scored an average of 2 goals per game! She was able to wrack up a total of 25 goals along with two assists this season alone.     Amanda is an extremely versatile player; being able to play any position on the field that the team needs her to play. Last year, Laguardia’s first year on Varsity, she proved to be an incredible defensive player. At the beginning of the season Coach Tina Londino decided that Amanda’s skills would be needed on the forward line. When asked about how she liked playing forward Laguardia exclaimed, “I love playing on the forward line!” She continued, “I was so excited when Coach gave me the opportunity to try the position; its been a lot of fun.” Laguardia continues to amaze us with her stick skills. On Tuesday she scored 4 goals in the girl’s state game against Passaic Valley. We can’t wait to see what Laguardia dazzles us with next season.
