Quiz Bowl has officially kicked off this year and many people came to the first meeting which Ms. Price, the advisor, presided over. Among the new members are seniors George Galkin and Alan Shindelman, juniors Jacob Rantas, JT Brennan, Sudharshan Venkatesh, and Ethan Gershgorin, sophomore Audry Hong, and freshmen Kishore Naraganjan and Thomas Kang. Membership on the team is open to anyone but only a maximum of six people can play per group. Currently, there are about 18 people on the team but the team is still accepting new members at this time. The team’s next big competition will take place on December 12th in Leonia so there is still time before the final arrangement for the teams is made. The captain of the Quiz Bowl team this year is Mallika Ventakachalam. It is evident that she is anticipating another great year for Quiz Bowl when she says, “We had an outstanding number of 22 people at our first meeting, and it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic year for us. Can’t wait!”

Last year, the Wayne Hills Quiz Bowl team advanced to the finals and won the prestigious BRITE Tournament for the first time in a smashing victory against Parsippany. After the BRITE Championship, the team travelled to Washington DC in hopes of winning the national competition but ultimately lost. In addition, the Quiz Bowl team has an annual student-faculty competition but the team lost last year. Hopefully, the team will set the record straight by winning it this year. The Quiz Bowl team has made Wayne Hills proud and will continue to do so this year.
