New Coach for the Softball Team

By Jaclyn Dericks and Cameron Dodds

This year the WHHS girls softball team had a little change up this season. There old coach Lauren Brown decided to leave the team and a new coach was brought in.

The new coach is Rayna Caruso. She was the assistant coach for five years at Madison High School and became head coach here in 2014. Caruso is very happy with the way her team has played since the start of practices on March 4.

“They’re an aggressive group, and that’s exciting for me because they’re always asking good questions about the game and how they can improve,” said Caruso.

With their record currently standing at 5-11, their next game will be Monday, May 9 against Wayne Valley. One of their recent wins have been against Paterson Kennedy, with a score of 16-0.

Senior Gianna Bracco had two singles with four RBI and senior Ryan Tighe had a hit with four RBI and two runs. Another win was against Passaic with a score of 23-5. Ryan Tighe and junior MacKenzie Morre both had three hits with three RBI and three runs. Other future games will be against Clifton on May 11, Paterson Eastside on May 13, and Paramus Catholic on May 16. Good luck to all players!
