WHHS T.V. to produce Video in Support for Greg Olsen

By Brittany Krugel

Greg Olsen is a star athlete who plays for the North Carolina Panthers, but way back when before his days in the NFL, he was number 4 playing for the WHHS Patriots. As the star tight end, he was one of the three finalists for the Gatorade Player of the Year Award in 2002. Now, he is about to head to the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on February 7th, 2016. Before this momentous occasion, Mr. James Hoogstrate is putting together a video that highlights Greg’s time as an athlete and a student here at Wayne Hills, as part of Ms. Carla Mclain’s tribute to Olsen.

“The show will be hosted by senior, Andrew Easse and it will have three segments. The first segment he will be interviewing WHHS Football coach, Wayne Demikoff, the second and third segments will feature WHHS alumni Mike Rudner and Dan Scillieri,” said Hoogstrate. Both Rudner and Scillieri were former announcers in the T.V. production club, and Scillieri played with Greg on the Football team. “In between the segments, we will have current teachers who have had him give him a good luck message,” Hoogstrate stated. “We thought that it would be a great idea to honor Greg. This is not just a huge accomplishment for Wayne Hills but a huge accomplishment for Wayne in general to have an athlete make it to the Super Bowl,” said senior Andrew Easse. We wish Greg and the North Carolina Panthers best of luck, as they look to take down the Denver Broncos next week.
