The Wayne Hills’ Girls Basketball Team is off to a positive start, with a winning record of 3-2. The girls started training in November, hoping to solidify strong skills to bring to their game. Lead by junior captains Amanda LaGuardia, Taylor Rodriguez, and Rachel Vellis, the team is young this year. With a uniquely small team comes unique challenges. However, the team has been able to rise to the occasion and put in the work necessary to win. “With such a small group, we have become a family on and off the court,” says junior Tori Ricciardi. The girls hope to bring their confidence and trust in each other into future games, especially while facing cross-town rivals Wayne Valley on January 12 at Wayne Hills at 7 pm. Coach Vincent Porta’s team will continue to make strides this season, despite its youth.
